Who Is Cherry Chicklet?

Depending on your level of immersion, there are two ways to view Cherry Chicklet. One way is to view her from the lens of her story world as a participant and fellow member of her secluded society on the island nation of New Switzerland, the place where people go when they’re on the run or need a place to hide. The other is to view her from the lens of our real world and recognize her as a vibrant character and contributor to the story world of the vast superhero fiction called A Modern-day Fantasy.

The Story World

From the story world, Cherry Chicklet is the stage name for Kelly Meyer, New Switzerland’s fiery redheaded top pop star and “rock goddess,” known for her wild swings in song genres and performance energy. Discovered in California as a singing barista, Meyer was recruited to entertain the New Swiss population after she had ad-libbed her now famous song “Caffeinated” for a customer who turned out to be a music manager in search of new talent. Even though her ultimate dream is to perform on the world stage, she takes her role as an elevated member of New Swiss society in stride for now.

When performing, Meyer wows her audience with spectacles of light and smoke, displaying song titles through lasers on mist, and appearing in wardrobes ranging from elegant black and red evening gowns to her signature pink and yellow body suit. Her voice carries across vocal ranges from alto to soprano as she performs everything from industrial rock to midnight jazz to the delight of the crowd.

But as Cherry Chicklet, she not only captivates audiences at her packed-out concerts, but she also serves as the official “running piper” for the superhero group known as the Risen Ordinaries. As a running piper, which is the title given to those who can rally or pacify crowds through music and voice, Meyer can just as easily move large groups into war as she can move them to safety. Whether she soothes the people with her tender voice or marches them to battle via her song “War Shroud,” her value as a crowd controller is unmatched.

The Real World

From the real world, however, Cherry Chicklet is a minor character and participant in the superhero epic thriller, A Modern-day Fantasy: Cannonball City (and its sequels) by Jeremy Bursey (me), a sprawling adventure, crime thriller, and pseudo fantasy that follows the journey of series protagonist Jimmy Knightly through his rise as an on-the-run tennis hero to his role as a reluctant superhero. Cherry Chicklet’s songs and performances are sometimes referenced in the books, but it was never enough for me to merely imagine how they might sound, so I decided to make her and her albums real through the power of AI (gasp!).

In the series, the Caffeinated album is referenced as having 14 songs, with “A Legend Defunct” and “Slippin’ on Cheesecake” being the only songs with rendered performances on the page. Except for “a song about garden gnomes” mentioned after Cherry’s performance of “A Legend Defunct,” I’d never quite decided on an official track list. But when AI music started getting good, I decided now was the time to finish writing the titles and lyrics for Cherry Chicklet’s twelve other songs, including the title song and the “song about garden gnomes,” now called “Ceramic Kickstarter.”

So, as I finished each song’s lyrics, I assembled them into 32-second clips with generated music and vocals into cohesive tracks in Udio and continued until the album was finished. And because the experience went well, I continued writing new songs for Cherry Chicklet’s follow-up albums, including Pulverized and Breathless, which also have songs featured in later books, all the way to her fifteenth and likely final album, Boundless (unless the rumors of a post-retirement comeback tour are true). By the end, I had nearly 250 songs ready to give listeners a new way to experience the A Modern-day Fantasy storyline, as well as ideas and themes related to our own real-life culture. And cats. Lots of cats.

After that, I ran all the old Udio songs through Suno’s cover feature and edited them to make them even better and more cohesive. And that’s the version of Cherry Chicklet and the album you’re about to listen to if you keep going. I’ve worked hard to make sure the experience is worth your time and ears. Hopefully it was time well-spent.

Regardless of which viewpoint you choose, however, I hope you will also view Cherry Chicklet from the perspective of a willing listener and fan, and not just the product of some random novelist’s imagination. Even though she is a minor character in the A Modern-day Fantasy series, I hope she’ll become a major character in the world of music, or at least in your world of music.

Thanks for listening. Enjoy the show.

P.S. I’d never imagined Cherry Chicklet as a cat lady before this massive music project, but now I have no idea how she couldn’t be.

I hope you enjoy Cherry Chicklet’s Caffeinated Album. Please view the album booklet if you want to read the lyrics as you listen. Click on the enlarge window icon to see it in full screen.

Remember, this is an early access version of the official album. Although I can’t promise each track will ever be perfect, I still hope to squeeze about 5% more enhancement out of them before calling them done. Once I’ve got them as I want them, I’ll move them to their official Caffeinated page.

Downloads are disabled on this page, but they will be enabled on the official page.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my mailing list for official release announcements, as well as other related news. A signup form can be found on this site’s home page. Alternatively, you can click the button below to open a new page to my direct signup form through my email provider (the more guaranteed-to-work route). Remember to check your email for the confirmation message and click to agree to make it official. The first welcome email should go out shortly after you confirm your subscription.

Lastly, if you could be so kind as to rate each song on a scale from 1-5 so that I know which ones are the “hits,” I would greatly appreciate it. There should be a mini-survey (via the MetaSurvey platform) at the bottom of this page to help you rate them. Please judge them according to their song potential and not on their AI base. I realize AI music is not well-liked by all, but Cherry Chicklet is a fictional character, and I don’t have connections to the music industry or millions of dollars to hire someone to cosplay as Cherry Chicklet, so this is the best I can do to bring the vision to life. Thanks for understanding. That said, the survey should take less than two minutes to finish. I’ll likely post the results after enough people have listened and responded. This will also help me to better understand how her songs might be perceived in the story world and to know which ones are likely hits with her fans.

And that’s all for now. Thanks again for listening. Enjoy the show.

Coming Soon

If you enjoyed listening to Cherry Chicklet’s Caffeinated and Pulverized albums, then stay tuned and stay close because her third album, Breathless, will be making its debut on this site soon. Once again, you can sign up to my mailing list for news and updates on my release plans for this and future albums, but it will be making its first appearance on this page soon, likely in early August 2026. Her other albums will gradually follow as I finish their album booklets and get their respective songs into early access shape (the latter of which I’ve already mostly done, but there are stragglers I need to spend a little more time with before calling them ready for public opinion). It shouldn’t take me long, though. Since I finished the songwriting and first-run compositions for all 15 albums back in October 2025, I expect to have their final official versions released over the course of the next few months to a year, depending on how long it takes to edit and remaster them and finish their album art.

A red-haired woman sings passionately into a microphone. Text reads “Cherry Chicklet” at the top and “Breathless” at the bottom.

Also note that I will be releasing the original Udio compositions and “re-imagined” versions of each album at some point alongside the “official” versions. These will be for the true Cherry Chicklet fans who want to hear it all. If you want to hear each song in their original form, then this will be for you.

Thanks again for reading and listening.
